In a few days we are getting a new shinny upgrade, 0.31. Built into this upgrade there is a hidden tax. This tax only affects older players that have maxed their armor. Since they will end up having to work harder than new guys to upgrade their armor to level 12.
Even though Savy will be upgrading current armor 5–7 to higher levels, there are still more levels and most of the work you did for upgrading them will disappear. To illustrate this better, consider what you have spent and will have to spend to upgrade the armor. In the current system, your armor 7 costs 1.3M minerals each block. On a level 10 ship that is almost 40 million that you had to gather.
With the new armor, a level 9 would had cost about 450k. So in the process you lost almost all the work that went into making the current level 7 armor. The main problem is you still have to grind for 3 more levels of armor, which will cost 2.5M. So by the time you are done, you will end up gathering 3.8M minerals, which turns out to be almost 900k more than a new player will. This is a little more then 35M for the armor on your level 10 ship.
Someone starting with the new armor, will only gather 2.9M for a maxed out armor. Which is good they have to grind less, since the game has way too much of that already. However, it is that there is no consideration to older player, and Savy even goes and says is an incentive for long standing players that we have have grind 35M extra. I would rather not be so incentivized. So please call it as it is, a 30% tax for having supported the game all these months
