ARMADA Militia
Orientation Manual
Welcome to ARMADA Militia! You may or may not realize that you’ve just been welcomed into one of the strongest alliance groups in Pixel Starships. ARMADA consists of six alliances - Dark Matter Heroes, Pillaging Scourge, Orion, Victrix Mortalis, Looting Lunatics, and ARMADA Militia. All six alliances are governed by the same leadership, and all but Militia have a shared all0

CODE OF CONDUCT
The majority of ARMADA members are adults. There are no age requirements for membership, but we do expect a certain level of maturity from our members. As long as you are flying an ARMADA flag on your ship, your actions in the game reflect upon us as an alliance just as much as they reflect on you as a player, and we expect that you will behave in a manner that leaves a good impression of us on others.
Scamming or otherwise intentionally deceiving other players, cheating (including but not limited to duping, botting, “bedroom shooting,” and taking advantage of game exploits to gain an unfair advantage over other players), and poor sportsmanship in any form will absolutely not be tolerated. We also maintain a zero tolerance policy for harassing other players or making disparaging comments regarding sex, race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, etc. These are all behaviors that could potentially result in immediate removal from the alliance.
As a member of ARMADA you also have nearly 24 hours access to game help on the line app. When you have questions about game mechanics or other issues we ask that you bring them to us, partly because it assures that you are receiving quality information and partly because it avoids giving the impression that we don’t know how to take care of our members. You should also never under any circumstances ask players in game chat for donations of bux, gas/minerals, equipment, etc.
If you observe a member of any of our alliances behaving in a manner that you believe violates this code of conduct, we ask that you take a screenshot and submit it to a member of leadership for review.
MILITIA MENTORS
The mentors at Militia have been carefully selected for their game knowledge and good reputations within the alliance. When one of us gives you advice about your ship, we are speaking from experience and with your best interests in mind. Even if the advice sounds a little scary or counterintuitive (What do you mean I need to fire all my crew?) it’s probably best to trust that we know what we’re talking about - otherwise we wouldn’t be here. In fact, some of your mentors are among the highest ranked players in the game.
It’s important to keep in mind that we all started at the beginning just like you. We were told to fire our crew and change everything about our layouts. We rushed our ships and regretted it, wasted our bux on things that were overpriced or worthless, listened to bad advice in public chat, wrote AI that didn’t make sense. We are here dedicating substantial time and energy to Militia with the hope that we can help you avoid some of the mistakes that we have made along the way. It is a labor of love.
In the beginning you can expect us to be pretty generous with our help. We may offer to give you minerals or gas to help you get a solid footing early on in the game or make up for some deficits that you’ve created by rushing levels before you found us. Please understand that this is a somewhat temporary arrangement. We want to help you get started and don’t mind assisting however we can in the beginning, but please remember that we have to grind for what we have just like you. We all have lives outside the game just like you as well. We try to be generous with our time and our resources as much as possible but at times there may be limits to what we can offer.
As a side note, because we are so generous while you’re under our wings it’s also important to make it clear that once you graduate into ARMADA you will be expected to stand on your own feet. There are millions of minerals, and sometimes gas, given away by our players every day, and we encourage you to take advantage of that (and pitch in when you have some to spare). You may also have opportunities to buy equipment and other game items from our members at prices you won’t find anywhere else, and at prices they wouldn’t offer to anyone outside the alliance. However, please don’t make a habit of asking our members for handouts when they haven’t offered on their own, especially if you don’t make donations to the resource pool yourself.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
We are not slave drivers. We don’t expect you to put the game before your work, school, family, etc., and we understand that there are limits to the time and attention you can (and should) devote to PSS. Ultimately it’s a game, and if you’re not having fun there’s really no point in doing it. At the same time ARMADA is an alliance full of serious players who have the common goal of always wanting to improve themselves. PSS is a game that requires a lot of strategy and adaptability to play well. Being successful at the ARMADA level of gameplay is something that most anyone can do if they make the effort but it does require that you adopt an attitude of never being done learning. You will need to think of your starship as an eternal work in progress. There will always be rooms that need to be upgraded and crew that need to be leveled, improvements that can be made to your AI, a new game meta to be absorbed.
Your time at Militia is intended to prepare you for all of that. You will be drilled, tested and put on the spot. You’ll be expected to read everything in the notes and treat it like a textbook (swipe right in our Line app to find the notes and albums). In order to graduate you’ll need to master most of it. By the time you graduate to ARMADA you’ll be a hardened starship destroying machine, and you’ll probably be amazed by how much easier PVP has become for you in such a short time.
There’s nothing wrong with being a casual player, and we understand that our approach to the game is not for everyone. If you know after reading this that Militia is not the right fit for you feel free to let us know. We’ll be happy to send you on your way with a pocket full of minerals and our best wishes.
NEXT STEPS
When you join the room we’ll ask you to post a screen shot of your ship with the crew inventory open. We’ll then advise you about your crew and layout.
Crew
We have several notes on crew. You may be surprised to hear us say that you need to fire some or most of your crew. We recommend firing all 1 and 2 star crew and most 3 star crew that can be obtained from mineral draws. A picture of the 3 star (unique) crew that we suggest keeping can be found in the notes, and their profiles can be found in the albums. Keep 4+ star crew. You’ll want to do a lot of mineral draws. It may be tempting to hang onto Jesus (or Pole Boy or whoever) but keeping bad crew will drive up your mineral draw costs needlessly.
Layout
There are several quick tips we may give you about your layout. The first is that all targetable rooms (those with hp bars) should be accessible by your repair crew. This means using lifts to link all levels and sublevels of your ship that contain targetable rooms. Armor is also important. You should focus your armor most heavily on rooms with low hp and/or rooms that are most frequently targeted on your ship, but ideally all rooms should have some armor. You should also make efforts to place your targetable rooms close together to make it easier for repair crew to move between them.
AI
One of the biggest things you may be looking forward to learning about is AI. Start by reading the beginner’s AI guide in the notes and watching the videos on boarder AI. Keep in mind that some of the strategies discussed in the boarder videos can also be used on your ship.
Be a participant!
Now that you’ve read the orientation, let the faculty know that you’re ready to begin learning. Try to read as much of alliance chat as you can and participate in chat as much as possible. Watching other recruits take the exit exam can be especially helpful.
Once you’ve made your way through all of the materials and feel that you’re ready, request an exam of your own. Upon graduation you’ll move into one of our top ranked alliances and gain access to more advanced materials.
Per aspera ad astra.
GRADUATION CRITERIA
1. minimum 1800 trophies
2. shows the maturity and good sportsmanship expected of all ARMADA members
3. approval of ship layout, crew and AI by total of three mentors
Once promoted Militia graduates will be allowed to move freely within ARMADA provided they have the minimum trophy requirement for the alliance they wish to join.
