Hello all!
For those who don't know what the junk ship/rewards ship looks like, here is a picture by Zensi:
orions.boards.net/thread/128/reward-ship
Background info
!!!The junk ship is not the blue blimp!!! This is a different craft.
The junk ship appears every couple of minutes or so when a player reaches a certain level or plays for a certain amount of time (Amount unknown at the moment).
It moves from right to left at the bottom of your screen(Follows same pattern as the blue blimp, so you may have to zoom out a bit).
Once clicked on, it employs a service called Tapjoy, an advertising department that requires users to do actions or pay money for their services.
Bux are the main rewards of Tapjoy, and can give you quite a lot for free if you play it just right.
How to tap the joy out of the junk ship: A guide to learning the ins and outs of a money-making scheme
How often do you have the urge to fight the junk ship trundling along the bottom half of your screen?
How often do you think "man, tapjoy deals are a money-grabbing scheme"?
How often do you get frustrated by this consumerist economy and want to massacre every advertiser in the world?
Well, if you adhere to at least two of the three questions above you, then this long-winded guide is for YOU!
This guide is meant for players who want to earn lots of bux for free by enduring ads. If you want to actually complete deals on Tapjoy and have the money, be my guest! Often times they are good deals if you find what you want, and you get bux as well(up to 420+ bux at once for paid!)
Here are some types that I found to make the most bux in the shortest amount of time for free
while floundering about on the tap(rage)joy deal lists.
1. Video type ads
A little rare, but these are the safest. Want to earn a quick 1 bux! watch these.
2. Search for ___ ads
Not quite as rare as the video ads, the search topics are easy money, generating about 5-11 bux while taking less than 30 seconds to complete. Complete the verification by checking the checkbox, and search something random. Close out the tab after the page loads, and sometimes, you will earn a little extra!
3. Slideshow type ads
These are more common, and can give anywhere within the (loose) range of 11-24 bux after completion. However, there is a catch to these kinds of deals.
No bux just comes for free; Tapjoy makes its profit indirectly off more advertising on their sites. During the slideshows, they will do EVERYTHING they can to make you click on an ad. Not as scary as it sounds, but just watch out for the "Start slideshow" link at the top, the "next" buttons to move on, and the "rewards claimed" or a pop up once you're done. If some tab comes up, just close it; it does nothing for your bux.
4. Sign-up ads
By far the nastiest(but the most profitable at around 56 bux or lower) are the sign-ups/enter to win a gift card/which ___ is your favorite/other deals such as that. These are a potential gold mine, but are by far the hardest to complete. The best way that I've found to do is to create a fake email, name, and address for these types.
WAIT!
I am a little guilty to say that I currently use someone elses' that I've stumbled upon. The email address that I've used is junkemail@gmail.com (Someone had bound to use that already), and I got his name, email, address, and phone number all from that email. If you'd rather find someone else's junk email than creating your own, you can type in something along the lines of junkemail(number)@(gmail.com, outlook.com, Comcast.net, etc)...or, just enter in your arch-enemy's email and send him the junk
if you can't find their info, then make up your own. Mine's a "Pedro Chavez" who lives at a random place (or mod's pizza! sorry mod's ) and has a random company's phone as well.
Plug in these into the search box, then do your thing! Revert to the "What not to do" guide beneath this.
WHAT NOT TO DO:
-do any tapjoys with the dollar sign($) underneath the description(not free!) unless you actually want to spend money to get the deal
-do the "spelling" quizzes, "Score perfect for 32 bux!" type quizzes, or any other sort of quiz for that matter, except the ones that are built-in to the Tapjoy UI (doesn't take you to your web browser). The others are a waste of time; I spent 25 mins on a quiz for 11 starbux...not worth your time, quizzes are the number one ways for ad traffic to happen)
-take super surveys(most often, they won't give you any bux cuz you're not eligible)
A WARNING:
Some sites say that you have to complete "offers" to get your reward. If tapjoy does not have a dollar sign below the description, then they can't directly charge you money. If you encounter pages like "Complete 2 gold offers below", or "complete the survey", then search for the next button. Every time that I've encountered these sorts of pages, they ALWAYS have a way out of the deals. Keep clicking the "skip" or "next" button until your reward finally is claimed.
THEN:
Pop-ups to other sites might appear when claiming rewards. Close out of these tabs immediately; they don't help you to complete your offer, and often end up leading to different sites wanting your money.
TL;DR:
have your money-suckering detectors on maximum, and have your wits about you as you click on links! remember, nothing comes for free, and more often than not, they will try thier darndest to squeeze a little money out of you.
REMEMBER ONE LAST TIME:
Tapjoy will NOT force you to spend money, but they still will try super hard! Never complete "side quests," or deals that you can indirectly do when claiming your reward.
Other than that, have fun cheating the system! There is nothing more satisfying than buying a crew draw at the end of your junkship adventures(well, nothing other than bringing down momma turkey, or an elder drivers ship ;D)
