Level 2
Rule #1
The BEST ADVICE YOU WILL EVER HEAR!
Upgrade as much as you can each level. Upgrade all available rooms and store if there isn’t room, and keep your crew to their max potential level for that ship level. Crew’s max level is always 4 times the ship level. A big bad ship is all cool but if you fall behind on upgrades and leveling up your crew, you will run into issues trying to battle and quickly lose interest in what is a VERY fun and complex game.
Goals:
At this level the goal is essentially to get to level three. Rooms and upgrades are cheap. You can also update several rooms at once. This will change further down the line. Missions and PVP are simple.
Max Crew Level: 8
Max Room Levels
:
Shield lvl 2
Reactor lvl 4
Engine lvl 2
Bridge lvl 2
Bedroom lvl 3
Mining Laser lvl 3
Turret lvl 2
Gym lvl 2
Mineral Storage lvl 3
Gas Storage lvl 3
Some ideas to keep in mind...
- Train your crew at the gym. Your crew are who keep your ship running, so try to get the best crew you can
- Don't isolate your gym. Those training can still fight, but not if they can't reach the other rooms
- Save your bux. Don't spend any at this level. You will need as much as you can find at level 3
Here are some generic layouts of each ship faction.
LAYOUT
First to get it out of the way... It is up to you to build the resource collectors or not. In almost every experienced players opinion however, they are worthless. They take up valuable space, produce very little and you WILL get a lot more resources from PVP and missions. However, you will get paid for upgrading them, through the achievement rewards. Let us begin the adventure from where the game has now left you!
Not a whole lot going on as you can see. The key point to remember is that every room needs to be connected to another in order to be able to have crew repair/access them. Lifts are used to traverse multiple levels (and only need to connect to the bottom block to be able to access them) otherwise direct same level room to room contact is easiest.
Most of your rooms you can get a free rush out of because they take less than 5 minutes to build/upgrade. Get as much as you can done it shouldn't take too long.
CREW
You can only hold three crew right now at lvl 2 but it is not too soon to start the drudge of the mineral draw. Not a lot of upgrades use minerals so this is an easy way to spend them and not worry about wasting any. Minerals max your storage fast at lvl 2 so spend them! Here is a great list of the crew you want to look for! orions.boards.net/thread/84/starting-crew
BATTLES
Again, nothing too crazy. You know the basics of how to attack enemies but now you have the option to fight other players in PVP. This will be your greatest source of income for resources. The best tactics at this level are to put your crew in your mining laser room and to attack the enemy reactor. Even at this low a level, the Weapon skill on your crew will slightly speed up the laser reload/fire rate. With only a couple HP the reactors go down quick and power down all the enemy ship rooms so they can't fire back. Don't just let the computer random target rooms. Focus on one room and pound the crud out of it! Reducing the enemy to zero hull hp is how you win and you are on a time limit. Sometimes taking every room out will take too long. Just kill them quick! Remember to watch your ship though! Easy to lose sight when you are looking at the enemy. Make sure they aren't getting some lucky shots in and taking you down.
If you lose DO NOT WORRY! It is going to happen a lot. At this point it only takes a second for your ship HP to refill so just go out and try again!
Also don't forget about the daily missions. They don't give you much in the way of resources but they will usually give you a good amount of EXP to level up your crew fast.
This level will go fast. Once your ship is at it's max potential, head on into the shop and upgrade to level 3!
