I've been poking around the internet to read up on PSS, and there are a few things I'm still fuzzy on, so I'd be grateful if anyone could clear things up for me. Firstly, how do you actually donate crates to your fleet? I've tried dragging a crate onto the fleet room, but the 'eject from airlock' window appears, which I assume won't give me the desired result Looking in the fleet info I can only find an option to donate bux, no mention of donating supply nor crates. Is there a setting that the fleet admiral (only they have donated supply, according to the info) needs to adjust to allow lower ranked members to donate? On the subject of supply, I see that some rooms can be bought with it. Some are obviously only for the starbase, but some (large engine for one) seem to fit on ships. Is this 'a thing', that additional rooms can be bought with supply, and fitted to ships? Do these rooms stack? By which I mean that if I buy a large engine, can I fit it to my ship at the same time as the smaller engine? On my previous ship, I got my grubby paws on some bricks, so for science I added them to my shield room. On the very next battle the shield room took a beating, and the bricks disappeared completely. I knew that some things are completely destroyed, but some are returned to the ship's inventory (sprinklers, I think?). Given the resource costs, which upgrades are worth working towards? I think that's it for now. Thanks in advance for any info anyone can provide

To donate: either select from inventory or go to fleet screen then Starbase.
Starbase rooms can only be used on the Starbase.
Only sprinklers are permanent.

I forgot : some rooms you can buy in the shop can stack, so you can have extra bedrooms like the aquarium, or more space for stuff like the workshop.

Thanks for the reply, Akronos The fleet I'm in was newly formed (I think I was the third to join it), so no starbase built as yet. When I tap on the crate in my inventory the only options I have are: 'use', 'upgrade', 'sell', or 'cancel', there doesn't appear to be any way to donate the crates without a starbase. The fleet screen shows a dollar symbol next to the fleet name for donating bux, but no mention of crates. So just to clarify, the only way to acquire additional rooms for my ship are from offers in the shop? (I was toying with the 'Fashionably Late' backer's pack, but it's a bit pricey) Ah, good to know that it's only sprinklers which are permanent. I'll ignore the other room modules and focus upon crew equipment

You need to the Starbase first before you can donate, yes. So save (and upgrade) all your crates. To get a Starbase your fleet needs 10 members. And a member that is at least level 7 for the 1 million gas and 1 million minerals it costs.
Try to save your bux for extra beds and/or a good crew, with a little luck you can get some good items from the ai tourneys.

Oh, and the pack isn't worth it IMHO, mostly cosmetic. If you want to support the devs and get some value for money pay for a membership for a few months. 30 scratchies a month (times 5 alts max) I think is a better deal.
The shop is the only way to get the extra rooms at the moment so if you sell those you can get about one extra room per month, if and when they come up in the shop.

Aaaah, yes, I see. When I read on the wiki that the starbase needed a million resources I thought it might be something like a project that is started, and then resources are steadily added in bitesize chunks until completion, rather than one person building it in one go. I had a look at the fleet info and there are forty eight of us now, with at least a couple having level seven ships, so it's doable at some point Yeah, I didn't think the pack was worth it, the only things that appealed to me were the doghouse for the extra bed, and the warp engine for the extra dodge (assuming it can be fitted along with the normal engine) That's a good suggestion, I'll get a couple of month's subscription once I upgrade my ship a bit to give me more inventory space. It's already fun spending the income from battles without wasting any After studying the crew and prestige tables on this forum (a goldmine of info) I decided to hold my ship at level four while I acquired and trained good crew (and learned about the game mechanics), and trade the resources gained from combat for crates from the market. My trophies are hovering around the 2000-2050 mark, so it's a good income and learning experiences

akronos thanks for helping out. The forum is for anyone interested in pss, so we encourage everyone to participate. Karnax think akronos answered most of your doubts. The only thing is that your alliance can help gather the resources. The fleet admiral sells your crates. He will store the resources, and when there are enough, he can buy the station for the alliance.

Yes, Akronos has been very helpful with my queries I've spent years looking for a decent spaceship game with crew management and RPG elements, I think PSS will fill that niche for me. Games I've tried have came close, but have usually been missing something or other.

Thank you both, happy to help!
I have the same reasons for playing, I'm sure this game will get better and better 😁 especially when it gets out of beta soon.

Some other things that occurred to me while playing are: Do the Python upgrades to the AI allow the distinction between a mining laser and a turret? At the moment I find it a minor annoyance to planning the layout that the AI treats both as a laser. I expect it will annoy me even more after I add more weapons, but I'm hoping it's unlocked with an AI upgrade Given that the fleet can accumulate bux, can the fleet buy crew from the shop offers, who then loiter on the starbase and can be added to player crew for 24 hours? (I know there's an HQ room which allows crew recruitment) There was something else, but I forget what it was at the moment Edit: I know what it was. Does the AI upgrade allow the missile batteries to automatically build more ammo? With hindsight I should have posted this in the 'Fresh out of the academy' section, so feel free to move it there

Python doesn't differentiate between the different types of a weapon
The fleet base can't have crew of it's own
