What is the key to making your crew defend? When I am boarded, even by average crew, my crew never seem to fight them, the boarders run around creating havoc and my crew well, they run around doing their stuff but never seem to shoot or kill the boarders... They move past the boarders but never seem to fight...Is there some trick I am missing. Do you need to leave team in a specific room to defend it, how do you maximise the efficiency of your crew in defense?
Any tips appreciated.

Neporlax, There is something called seniority, which determines who will go first when several have AI commands to do something. Unfortunately, it currently seems to be that seniority is based on date of acquisition, and there is little to do.
Still you can try to give non conflicting commands. Don't make all your crew your X HP < 100%, so that the guy on the other end of the ship has to come. You might want the closest guys with 100 and the ones further with 50. Also take into consideration the age of your crew when giving them AI commands.
Everybody is hoping Savy will fix this, but for now your oldest crew is the first to try to do something. Which I hate, because the newbies on my crew are the better characters. This is part of why you need to start getting good crew early on.
Also, your crew will only shoot if going or guarding/repairing the room the boarders are doing something. If the boarders just walk through, not really. Though I have seen some gasers or critical kill boarders.

to expand on this, a little; crew will use damaging abilities if they are in the room they're targeting, have an ability that is applicable, and have a command to do so...
this said, your own crew will not hack or dismantle your rooms, rush or healing rain your opponents, and poison gas/critical strikes will only affect enemy crew...
